STORE POLICY REGARDING CLASSES (Please read carefully)

Registration fee must be paid at time of registration.
Students are responsible for obtaining supply list prior to commencement of class – you may want to confirm that the class is a go before actually purchasing your fabric and supplies, since we do not give refunds for cut fabric;
To thank you for registering for a class, we are pleased to offer a 10% discount on the supplies which you will need for your project. Please remind us of your registration at the time you make your purchases;
Unless otherwise noted, students are expected to be familiar with their sewing machines, which are expected to be in good working condition for use in class and for homework. This might be an excellent time to have your machine tuned up!
If a student requires the loan of a classroom machine, please contact us in advance to make arrangements;
No refunds or credits will be given for classes unless the class is canceled.

   Aiming for Accuracy. There are three areas where accuracy is crucial in the quilting process: cutting, sewing and pressing. Learn techniques to improve your skills, discover tools that make these jobs easier, and watch your workmanship improve. After all, if it's worth doing, it's worth doing as well as you possibly can.

   Binding Basics. It's an important, yet often forgotten, part of your quilt. Learn how to calculate, cut, and apply your binding, with special attention paid to the Dreaded Mitered Corner and achieving a perfect finish. Don't get caught in a bind – take this class and finish those quilts!

   Bread & Butter Table Runner. This stylish runner will give you practice with three very useful techniques: 1/ making quarter-square triangles with the wonderful Tucker Trimmer, 2/ setting blocks on point, and 3/ putting mitred binding on non-square corners. Isn't it nice when a valuable learning experience gives you such a pretty finished project?

   Crown Jewels. Eliminate Lemoyne Star angst by using Deb Tucker's Rapid Fire ruler. While it doesn't eliminate bias edges, Deb's techniques make the whole process easy and accurate, with stellar results!

   Foot Folio. An essential accessory for anyone with a sewing machine! The clear vinyl pockets keep all of your feet, needles, and small gadgets protected and accessible, while the zipper closures keep them safe and secure.    Fun & Done: Sticks & Stones. The name says it all – this quilt-as-you-go method is fun to do, and it's finished entirely by machine. No extra quilting, no binding, no size restrictions. Just a beautiful quilt built with a great technique.

   Groovy Girls Club. This is for all you Terry Atkinson fans! Every month we present a step-by-step demo of one of Terry's new, unpublished projects, along with variation ideas for her previous patterns. As a member, you'll get the pattern, tips and technique suggestions, and a 15% discount off your purchases at each meeting. The projects are cute and appealing, and you'll end up with a nice supply of gift ideas that are fun and easy to make. The club started in September, but new members are always welcome!

   Hot and Cold Therapy Bag. Sure, you can buy them at the drugstore, but making your own is so much cooler (or hotter, if you prefer). You provide your favourite fabric and we'll provide the magic ingredient that lets you warm it up or cool it down to ease your aches, pains and tension headaches. These are easy to make, great stash-busters and perfect gifts. Removable covers allow for personalization and easy cleaning. You should be able to complete the full size and smaller "eye bag" in class.

   Hunter's Star. This traditional pattern, made with up-to-date techniques, is spectacular when made in either a co-ordinated collection (jelly rolls and layer cakes work perfectly!) or in a two-colour scheme. Looks complicated, but isn't, thanks to an innovative new ruler that allows for precise cutting and trimming. Here's another example.

   Kokopelli. This Native American deity presides over, among other things, agriculture, and his flute-playing is said to chase away winter and bring about spring. That's reason enough to take this class, but you'll also learn about thread- and fabric-trapping, machine appliqué, free-wheeling scribble quilting, and circular bias binding as a bonus!

   Lollipop Bag. This little accessory pouch is cute as the dickens, with its hidden contrast bottom that allows it to stand for easy filling and retrieval.    Lunch on a Roll (with a Twist!). The Lil Twister tool is really fun to use, and the results are amazing!    Machine Quilting Express. Learn the basics of machine quilting, both feed-dog assisted and free-motion, on practice sandwiches in this intensive one-day class. Once you get comfortable and find your groove, you'll be able to tackle your real projects with confidence.

   Machine Quilting I. This is the more relaxed version of our machine quilting class. Spread over three weeks, it allows you plenty of practice time with both feed-dog assisted and free-motion quilting. By the end of the course, you'll wonder why you were nervous!

   Quilting I. If you've always wanted to make a quilt but didn't have a clue where to start, this is the class for you. This six-week course takes you from measuring and cutting your fabrics, through piecing an assortment of traditional blocks, and on to sashings and borders and basic quilting techniques. Along the way you'll learn about all the gizmos, gadgets, and strange vocabulary that distinguish quilters from the rest of the sewing community. The result? The first quilt in your collection!

   Quilting II. This sampler introduces more advanced piecing techniques – acute angles, curves, 3-D fabric manipulations, Seminole piecing, appliqué – for the beginner who's ready to move on. A great opportunity to improve your skills while making a very pretty throw quilt or wall hanging.

  Serging Ahead. Your serger is a marvel, but do you know how get the most from your investment? Unravel its mysteries, including threading and tension adjustments, the whole range of utilitarian applications, and the use of decorative threads.    Sunshine Pineapple. Welcome guests to your home with this stylized symbol of hospitality. Made with both log cabin piecing and fusible appliqué techniques, in rich batiks or funkier prints, this wallhanging is not only fun to make, it will also greet your visitors in fine style!

   Thread Catcher. This was an impromptu make-and-take at our Camelot Retreat last year. The design features a detachable "catcher" to facilitate emptying - and it can also stand on its own. One fat quarter, a button, and matching thread is all that is required (we'll provide the stuffing and the secret ingredient to make it stand open). Makes a great gift for any sewer!

SKILL LEVELS

Novice: Has familiarity with machine (threading, basic operation), but little or no sewing/quilting experience
Beginner: Has some quilting experience, understands basic quilting terms & techniques (eg. 1/4" seam allowance) and knows how to use a rotary cutter.
Intermediate: Has experience with basic quilting projects and is ready for more advanced techniques.
Advanced: Has a great deal of quilting experience and is very skilled and comfortable with various techniques.
All: All levels except Novice.
