Merry Little Christmas Class Information

Using the Foundation Paper Piecing technique create delightful holiday items for yourself, your friends and your family.  In the first class you make your block or blocks of choice and in the second class you will transform them into a tablerunner, cushion, wall hanging, gift bag or placemats.  It is expectation is that you are familiar with FPP (which Lucie will review in the first class).

General Supplies:

-Sew Yourself a Merry Little Christmas pattern book by Mary Hertel
-sewing machine in good working order with all accessories including power cord, foot pedal and owner's manual

-a new 80/12 Microtex sewing needle
-12" add-a-quarter ruler
-snips or small scissors to trim threads
-50 wt. thread such as Konfetti in a neutral colour for your project
-rotary cutter
-basic sewing kit (pins, seam ripper, awl)
-Sewline OR Bonin fabric glue stick (NOT the thick 505 or regular craft glue stick)
-temporary marking tool of choice
-Carol Doak's Foundation Paper
-Mary Ellen's Best Press
-mini eyes
-buttons and embellishments depending upon your project (A small kit with embellishments will be available for $10 from the instructor at the second class.  You will be able to choose the buttons, trims, etc., of your choice at this time).

-if you are making the wall hanging showcasing all the characters in the Merry Little Christmas Pattern booklet, you will need the following supplies
-0.5m of nondirectional fabric for a narrow frame around each block
-0.75m of nondirectional fabric for sashing
-1.2m for backing
-1.25m of fusible fleece
-0.5m binding

Pre Class Preparation

Review the fabric requirements for each block AND finished project you wish to work on and bring them to the first class.  Please bring more fabric than you suspect you need.  


















Skill Level: Intermediate
Skill Details: You will be more successful with this project if you have previously taken Quilting 1 or equivalent (able to cut accurately with a rotary cutter and sew a quarter inch seam) as well as having taken Introduction to Foundation Paper Piecing or equivalent.
