Applique Techniques by Machine Embroidery

About the Class Samples

Some sample projects demonstrate how appliqué techniques can be used to revive and upcycle items such as jackets or aprons. However, you are not required to bring these items. Completing the samples on plain cotton fabric is fully recommended and works perfectly for learning the techniques.

If you choose to bring a jean jacket or apron, please note that it is expected you are already comfortable hooping odd-shaped or challenging items.

Skill Level: Intermediate
Skill Details: This is an intermediate-level machine embroidery class. Students should already be comfortable using their embroidery machine and be able to confidently: - Wind and insert a bobbin - Rethread the machine - Understand basic hooping principles (including hoop orientation and hooping cotton with interfacing) - Load an embroidery file and start a stitch-out If you would like to refresh these foundational skills, you may take the next Basic Embroidery Class offered or book a private lesson (please call the store to arrange this). HOOPLA, our monthly embroidery club, is another great option to practice skills in the QP Studio alongside other embroiderers, with guidance and support provided as needed.
