Sit and Sew

Come use our space and our tools (and escape your family, renovations or anything else you'd like to leave at home). Come alone or bring a friend. This is a great opportunity to sew-cialize with friends, both new and old! A staff person will be assigned to help you, if needed, but there will not be a specific lesson or class being taught. You must bring your own machine (as always, we can help you carry it in), your project supplies and rotary cutters. As an added bonus, any regularly-priced shopping you do the same day will be discounted by 10%. Please call the store to register or ask any questions you may have. 613-834-3044

Introduction to hand-piecing (Little Houses)

Be part of the slow stitching movement, hand-stitching with a creative purpose, by starting a small composition of three little houses that can be made into a 7" x 17" wall-hanging. This is a 2-part class. Once you have learned the technique, you can easily multiply the number of houses to make an entire community or only make one showcase house that can perhaps serve as a housewarming gift. The pattern and thread are included in the cost of registration. Please note: this class is a pre-requisite for the Circle Game, a 73" x 73" hand-pieced, hand-quilted project that takes place over eight months.

Quilting 2

This class is the second in our learn to quilt classes. Ideally you will have completed our Quilting 1 for the Absolute Beginner Class before enrolling in Quilting 2. The expectation is that you can cut multiple layers of fabric using a rotary cutter, follow a basic pattern and are familiar with sewing a consistent and accurate 1/4" seam prior to the class. Please speak to Carrie or Amy if you are unsure if this is the right class for you. This class will lead you through the process of making a sampler quilt that can be as funky or traditional as you like. You'll make a variety of traditional pieced blocks that assemble into a twin size quilt top. There will be weekly homework assigned to be completed between classes so please factor that into the time commitment for this course.
